From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) After starting aircraft, pilot taxied aircraft to hard surface tiedown area. Pilot exited aircraft while it was still running. He then chocked the wheels and tied the aircraft down. After completing this, he then walked away from the aircraft to get his car in the parking lot. When he returned with his car, the aircraft was moving in a circle around the right wing tiedown rope. The pilot grabbed the right strut in an attempt to stop the aircraft. He was knocked to the ground by the aircraft and injured his head. The aircraft then moved across the ramp and ran into the operations building. Damaged to the building included a hole in the wall, a broken hand rail, a corner post completely knocked down, a picture window and area of wall broken out. Then aircraft sustained substantial damage to right wing just outboard of the wing strut, the left wing tip area, and nose strut. The propeller separated from the engine after striking the building. Pilot stated that he was not intending to fly the aircraft, only to warm up the engine.
