From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On February 07, 2009, a student pilot operating N8508A, was returning from kmvc after performing a touch and go. While attempting to land at 79J Andalusia, Alabama, pilot stated as he approached runway 11, ATIS was reporting that winds were calm. Pilot reported that as he landed, the aircraft began pulling to the left. Pilot decide to pull up and make second attempt at landing. On second landing, the pilot reported the pulling to the left was more prevalent and that right rudder pedal input had no effect. Pilot stated aircraft was headed off the runway toward airport signage. Pilot elected to pull up again, but the landing gear clipped the sign, separating the landing gear from beneath the aircraft. Pilot was contacted by flight instructor on ground and informed of his situation. Aircraft circled field until emergency personnel were in place. Pilot made emergency landing and egressed with no injuries. Initial inspection of landing gear showed left tire was cut and deflated.
