From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot and mechanic were conducting a first flight after engine overhaul and long annual inspection. The pilot made a high speed run then turned around and took off. Video was taken by privacy data omitted, he was going to buy half interest in the plane. During the video you can see the plane taking off and when it passes privacy data omitted you can hear that the engine is missing. A few seconds later gray smoke can be seen coming from the exhaust pipe area and you can hear the engine decreasing in power. The video stops at this time and from witness the aircraft made a left turn then appears to have stalled and spun into the ground. The aircraft hit almost in a vertical position with the right wing low.
