From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The 59 year old male skydivr was jumping with the two other skydivers from skydive columbus. He held a uspa c license with approximately 440 jumps. He had exited the aircraft at approximately 10,000' AGL. Witnesses observed the skydiver falling away from them with the main chute not deployed. They estimated the reserve chute deployed at approximately 750' AGL. They stated tha the deceased did not appear to be responsive during the free fall. Witnesses also stated that the deceased did not collide with the aircraft or another jumber upon exiting the aircraft. Examination of the parachute pack and harness was performed. There was no evidence that either the main or reserve chutes had attempted to have been manually deployed. The automatic activation device (aad) for the reserve chute had been fire allowing the reserve chute to deploy. Examination of the reserve chute revealed no discrepancies. The reserve chute was last packed on 12/10/08 and was a pisa tempo 170, dom 01/00. The aad was a cypres, dom 2/00. The harness was a strong quasar iiii, dom 4/00.
