From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Airman attempted to take off on highway 156, two miles east of Great Bend, Kansas. The highway was NE to sw at 210 degrees and the winds were 140 degrees with gusts to 32 mph. The airman lost control of the aircraft which went through a ditch and eventually through a chain link fence. The result was a minor injury to the airmans hand and substantial damage to the left wing spar and engine firewall. The aircraft was then transported to the owners hanger just off the highway.
