From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft lost engine power at 5,000' MSL, approx 4 NM north of Hanford Municipal Airport (khjo). Pilot stated that he attempted restarts but was unable. (He admits he did not switch tanks from right to left) the pilot landed the aircaft in a freshly plowed (soft) field, with gear and flaps down. The landing gear dug deeply into the soft field ripping off the nose gear and striking the left wingtip. Inspection of the aircraft found substantial damage to the left wing and the rear fuselage. Investigation also found approx 8 gals of fuel in the left tank and no fuel in the right tank. There were no injuries and no fire.
