From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On may 16th, 2009, at approximately 1330 z (0830 CDT), a private pilot was involved in an aircraft incident resulting from a gear-up landing at the Miami County Airport (K81), Paola, Kansas. The aircraft involved in this incident is a Cessna T-210-L, which is owned by the airman. The airman indicated that upon entering the traffic pattern for runway 3, the strong winds caused the aircraft to drift farther south than anticipated, requiring the airman to make drift corrections in order to maintain adequate spacing for the approach and landing. Once established on final approach for runway 3, the airman stated that due to the strong winds, the aircraft was farther from the runway and at a lower altitude than normal, requiring additional corrective actions. The airman admittedly fail to manage the distractions associated with the arrival phase and failed to conduct the before landing checklist. Minor damage was sustained by the aircraft as a result of the gear-up landing. The airman, the sole occupant of the aircraft, did not sustain any injuries. Post-incident photographs of the aircraft indicate that the landing gear lever was in the up position.

As the FAA filed it
