From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) N4846E a powered paraglider (experimental - operating light sport) took off of private property near Jasper, Texas. The pilot-in-command (PIC), a student pilot, took off a grass field into the wind with approximately 600' of clearing. After takeoff at approximately 30' of altitude, the wind changed to a tailwind and the aircraft lost lift. The pilot gave the aircraft full power and intentionally placed the aircraft into a large tree to avoid hitting other obstacles. The aircraft hung from the tree top until rescuers arrived. Rescuers removed pilot and one passenger from the aircraft. The aircraft received minor damage. The damage included a small cut in the canopy and the center bar was slightly bent.
