From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft was on a visual approach to klci in night, VMC conditions. PIC stated there was no indication of any bird activity in the airport area. At approximately 75 ft above the airport PIC & SIC heard a loud bump in the rear of the aircraft apparently on the left side. PIC did not see the bird even with all the exterior lighting illuminated. During post flight inspection flight crew identified damage to the left trailing edge flap. The damage started at the middle of the flap chord just outside and behind the left main landing gear. The damage was an indentation that deformed the flap up and bulged into the upper flap surface. Crew drove out on the runway and found a large goose dead on the runway just left of the centerline and approximately 1000 ft from the threshold. During further inspection the next day in daylight conditions flight crew discovered a dent in the leading edge slat that appeared to be in the same corresponding position as the tailing edge flap damage. Flap and slat replaced before further flight. End.

As the FAA filed it

END.
