From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft landed at pdx and the right main gear suffered severe vibration. Aircraft was able to taxi to the gate and passengers deplaned normally. The shimmy damper on the rmg had come apart, which allowed the torque links to separate. The resulting lower gear wobble caused the inner sidewall of each tire to chafe against landing gear parts which tore up the sidewalls but did not cause tires to deflate. The nut that holds the shimmy damper together was found on the runway at the departure airport, jan jose, CA (sjc).
