From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot stated that on 06/12/2009, at 1130 adt, he departed finger lake (99Z) for a flight to the seward, AK area. He stated he departed the lake in a sw direction with gusty wind conditions. After a normal take off, at approximately 50 ft. he said the aircraft began sinking. He believed he could not clear trees at the end of the lake, turned left up a finger of the lake, was able to level the aircraft before impacting the water. The impact sheared the float struts. Damage was confined to the floats, float struts, prop, cowl, and wing struts. The pilot stated there were no mechanical irregularities.
