From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On June 14, 2009 privacy data omitted made a return night flight from (kmth) marathon, Florida to (kapf), Naples, Florida where the aircraft is based. He landed on runway 32 at approxiomatly 9:30 pm. His taxi instructions were right turn onto runway 5, exit A4 and taxi to the ramp. When he turned off on to A4 he did not follow the yellow taxi way stripe to the ramp. Instead per his statement he mistook two blue taxiway lights for the entry to the ramp. His path took the aircraft over a grassy area & the aircraft went into a 4" deep drainage ditch, damaging the aircraft. I spoke to the controller on duty that night. He stated the pilot was given a clearance after landing to taxi on "a". The pilot missed this taxiway and was then instructed to taxi on runway 5 to A-4 to the ramp. The controller stated that he did not observe a landing light and the aircraft was operating on the surface at an observed normal speed. On June 24, 2009, I met with privacy data omitted who provided me several statements. He showed me the accident scene and explained what happened. He stated his aircraft landing light had burnt out and was inoperative during the flight previous to landing.
