From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot taxied aircraft to end of runway and performed an engine run up inspection. Engine sound seemed normal. Aircraft proceeded to takeoff. At about the time the aircraft reached the end of the runway, the engine seemed to lose power. The engine then picked back up and the aircraft continued to climb. There was another reduction in power and the aircraft stopped climbing. The pilot attempted to turn right and head back to the grass strip. During the turn, one witness reported that the engine quit. The aircraft stalled and spun in from about a 100 feet.
