From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During taxi, the crew started the APU to provide additional cooling to the cabin. Shortly thereafter smoke was reported in the cabin. Airport rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) was called and emergency procedures initiated to clear the smoke. Once ARFF personnel were onboard, smoke had cleared but unfortunately ARFF, without communicating with the crew, opened the aft emergency door prior to it being disarmed which resulted in the tail cone dropping and the slide deploying. No emergency evacuation occurred. Portable air stairs were brought out to the aircraft and the passengers deplaned through the forward entrance door. Incident # ICE052009017 closed.

As the FAA filed it
