From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) According to witness statements, the aircraft departed on the second flight of the day and experienced a loss of power shortly after takeoff. The PIC turned the aircraft in an attempt to return to the airpark but had insufficient altitude and speed. The aircraft landed in an open area between residential dwellings, but lacked the needed area required to stop the aircraft. The aircraft made an abrupt maneuver to avoid a culvert, crossed over a ditch and a road, striking a mail box and coming to rest in the ditch on the northside of the road. Aircraft damage included the removal of the right main gear and right wing tip. The right aileron, a broken propeller blade, engine mount, frame tubing and fabric damage.
