From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While enroutr from waukesha county airport (ues) to sheboygan county memorial airport (sbm) the pilot attempted a touch and go in lake Michigan about 3 miles east of Port Washington, WI. After landing, while taxiing the aircraft the right sponson struck an unknown object in the water. This caused the right sponson to shear and seperate from the wing. The force of the impact caused the left wing to dip into the water, causing the left sponson to shear from the wing. The aircraft was towed to the beach. After inspection to determine damage, a ferry permit was issued and the aircraft departed for winter haven, FL. Boaters retreiving the sponsons reported finding a submerged log in the water in the area of the incident.
