What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
During a flight from columbus municipal airport (bak) to coles county memorial airport (mto) the Beechcraft A35 bonanza, registration number N8511A, serial number D-1933, experienced a partial electrical failure. The pilot contacted terre haute approach control but was reported back as garbled communications. The aircraft was diverted to Monroe County Airport (bmg). During the transition to bmg, the pilot initiated the emergency landing gear extension procedure. The pilot reported that he "turned the handle until it got hard to turn and then turned it a couple more times." The pilot established an approach to runway 24 and prior to touchdown, shut off the engine magnetos, fuel and master switch. Upon touch down the aircraft nose gear collapsed followed by the main landing gear resulting in the propeller striking the runway. The aircraft remained on the runway and came to rest left of the center line with the nose gear fully collapsed and the main gear partially collapsed into the inner gear doors. Damage was sustained to the propeller, nose cowling, nose landing gear doors, the right and left inner main gear doors, and actuating linkage to all gear and the left wing tip.
