From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot needed to move the airplane because his bay was going to be dredged. He intended to move the airplane to the east side of pistakee lake. He did not procure a weather briefing. He had one passenger who had not flown before. Drizzle was falling when he started and taxied for takeoff. The wind was from the west southwest. He took off to the southwest. Takeoff speed about 45 knots, climb speed about 80 knots. After takeoff he encountered heavy rain and gusty winds. He had no visibility through the windshield, due to the rain. The pilot elected to land to the east, downwind. Speed on landing was such that he contacted a dock at pistakee marina at a speed of about 20 knots. No injuries and slight damage to the dock.
