From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On July 31, 2009 at 1000 I met with privacy data omitted pilot for helicopter N6992, rotorway exex 162F at his hanger located at Camarillo Airport. I first took pictures of the helicopter, focusing on the tail rotor area that's where most of the damage to the helicopter was located. Next, I interviewed privacy data omitted about what happened on July 29, 2009 he said on or about 1900 he was on the helicopter pad hovering about one foot off the ground when a gust of wind lifted up the helicopter tail rotor and tilted the nose of the helicopter forward when that happened he pulled the cyclic stick back to counter the forward movement of the helicopter in doing so he over corrected and that's when the tail rotor hit the ground.
