From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The pilot stated he knew there was a power line up river between site G18 and G19, the next spray point so he looked for it in his turn. He did not see the power line and leveled off below the top of ridge and picked up a heading to the left of the track he flew in on and focused his attention on setting the GPS for next waypoint. When he looked up from the GPS he saw the power line and pulled back hard and right on cyclic. He missed the conductors but hit the static wire above them. The aircraft responded normally and he landed in a nearby cornfield.
