From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot was experiencing engine indication problems in-flight (several engine instuments showed high readings) and was concerned he may be having or about to have a serious engine problem. He selected "neareast" on GPS which showed "kdpg" 5 miles out. He circled the airport and was transmitting on a handheld but received no response. He stated that he declared an emergency and landed at kdpg, a runway located in a restricted area (Dugway Proving grounds). Officials at kdpg were called in and questioned the pilot; they were satisfied that the landing was made due to an emergency. Pilot determined that problem was electrical in nature and not engine related. Pilot hand propped the aircraft, departed kdpg with coordination from kdpg officicals, and continued on to hailey, ID.
