From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft was on an unstable approach to runway 19 at kteb. The SIC was in the left seat of the aircraft at the controls. Per the post crash interview with the SIC it appears he inadvertently pulled the prop levers into the feathered position. The condition of the propellers at the crash site indicate the engines either stopped running or were running at a very low speed. At the crash site it was noted the props were in the feathered position prior to the aircraft inpacting the ground. The aircraft overshot the the end of runway 19 at kteb, hit a tree and sign before coming to rest in a parking area just off us route 46 east. The crew of two escaped with serious burns and the aircraft was destroyed in a post crash fire. The position of the engine control levers ( props, mixture and throttles) at the crash site (full forward) and the interview with the SIC indicates engine restart was attempted. On 09/04/2009 Mr. George maddox passed on at 15:00 hours EDT. This is within thirty (30) days of the accident which occurred on aug. 21, 2009
