From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

N5604B, a powered parachute piloted by Mr. Price, was westbound on a downwind for landing on a private grass strip. Thomas jackson (see separate 8020-23) was northbound in an ultralight aircraft, at the same altitude as Mr. Price, inbound for landing on the same strip. Mr. Jackson's aircraft collided with Mr. Price. Mr. Price was fatally injured in the ensuing crash. Mr. Jackson's ultralight, also crashed, but he survived with minor injuries. Note: Mr. Price was a non-certificated pilot flying a certificated light sport aircraft - total flight hours unknown. Mr. Jackson has a sport pilot certificate, but was flying a non-certificated phantom ultralight.
