From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot stated he departed mri on 09/19/2009 and landed on the beach at patton bay on montague island. At 1400 hours on 09/21/2009, the pilot prepared for departure with one passenger and gear on board the aircraft. He stated he walked the beach over the intended take-off run area. The take-off was normal until the tail lifted off the ground when the main wheels bogged down in soft sand and the aircraft nosed over and continued onto it's back. The pilot and passenger where not able to right the aircraft or move it, and the tide came in and submerged the aircraft.
