From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

This was a local flight departing from and returning to John Wayne airport (sna). The pilot was attempting his first landing to a full stop on runway 19L. During the landing the right wing began to fall and the aircraft began to move right and the pilot attempted to compensate with ailerons. The right wing tip contacted the ground and the aircraft turned approximately 70 degrees to the right and came to rest on the left main landing gear, right wing tip, and tail wheel. Inspection of the aircraft by the pilot revealed a bolt was no longer installed on the left main landing gear. Inspection of the aircraft conducted during the investigation revealed minor damage to the right wing tip. No other damage noted on the aircraft.
