From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot took off from Crystal Falls (50D) on runway 30 for a short local flight. This was the third flight of the day. The pilot stated that just after takeoff he experienced an aileron/flaperon control problem and could not move the control stick to the left. He managed to control the aircraft in a shallow left turn to return to the airport. He pulled off the power and crashed on the right side of runway 02 approximately 100 feet north of the approach end. The pilot stated that he may have stalled the aircraft while trying to land. Engine operation was not a factor. The aircraft impacted on its left side, nose low. The main gear was torn off, the left wing was damaged at the wing root, and the forward left fuselage was crushed in. There was no post crash fire.
