From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot says while on 2 mile final he tried to add power to the engine and it did not respond. He then looked at his fuel and it showed ¼ of a tank. The engine died and he turned to land in a wheat field. Pilot stated that he thought he had enough fuel on board to complete the flight and still meet the ½ hour fuel requirement. Aircraft landed safely without any damage or injury. Pilot states that he then checked the fuel and found the tank was empty. Pilot states that he put fuel into the aircraft the next morning and flew it to the airport when it was light outside. Note: pilot has not reached time requirements for a biannual flight review.
