From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At approximately 2115 local time, the aircraft made an ILS approach to runway 34 at Hays municipal airport (hys). The pilot verified that all three landing gear indicator lights indicated down and locked (green indicator lights). Shortly after touch down, the aircraft's left wing started to drop and the passenger noticed that the left landing gear green indicator light was no longer illuminated. The aircraft left wing settled to the ground and the aircraft departed the runway on the left side. After the aircraft stopped, the pilot and the passenger exited the aircraft and notified flight service that the runway was closed.
