From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot aborted the first approach to runway 7 at Lorain County Regional Airport (lpr), located at Elyria, Ohio, the pilot completed a go-around and attempted a 2nd approach that ended in the aircraft crashing short and slightly left of runway 7 into a muddy field. Both pilots and two passengers died in the crash. The impact with the ground caused both wings to depart the fuselage and break into sections, the right power plant departed the rt. Wing, and the rt prop departed the right power plant. The cockpit seperated from the fuselage remaining attached at one side exposing the cabin area to the outside environment. The fuselage came to rest lying on its left side.
