What happened

The pilot was cleared for takoff from intersection A-6. After normal acceleration, the nose wheel developed a strong vibration. The pilot aborted the takeoff as the nose gear slowly collapsed. The aircraft slid down the runway approx. 1000 ft, then off into the grass median.

THE PILOT WAS CLEARED FOR TAKOFF FROM INTERSECTION A-6. AFTER NORMAL ACCELERATION, THE NOSE WHEEL DEVELOPED A STRONG VIBRATION. THE PILOT ABORTED THE TAKEOFF AS THE NOSE GEAR SLOWLY COLLAPSED. THE AIRCRAFT SLID DOWN THE RUNWAY APPROX. 1000 FT, THEN OFF INTO THE GRASS MEDIAN.
