From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 2-20-2010, pilot departed in N4181N from the lyndonville VT caledonia county airport (cda), en route VFR to the Newport VT state airport (efk), pilot then departed Newport airport and landed on lake memphremagog, the lake is also in the town of Newport. Pilot met friends that were on the lake and had a "picnic". At approximately 1400 hrs pilot was taxing on the lake and looking for an open clear area to depart, while taxing the front wheels struck a snow berm and the aircraft nosed over and landed on the top surface of the aircraft. Pilot stated that there was a tail wind that assisted the aircraft in going over, pilot state that the aircraft went over on its' back in a gentle slow motion type of action. The propeller is bend, the cowling is damaged and the top part of the vertical stabilizer has been crushed. There is a wrinkle on the right wing at the point of where the strut attached to the wing, the wing damage probably occurred when the aircraft was flipped back onto the wheels, it appears that when the aircraft was uprighted on to the wheels the aircraft may have pivoted on the right wing.

As the FAA filed it
