From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

This was a part 91 flight from smo to gjt to sna. The pilot stated that he noticed rumbling from the nose wheel while taxing after landing at gjt and performed a preflight prior to his departure on rwy 11 from gjt. The pilot stated that he payed particular attention to the nose wheel and noticed no defects. The aircraft departed from gjt and landed at sna without any noticable indication that the nose wheel had departed the aircraft. The pilots taxied into the FBO in sna and ground personnel notified the pilots that the aircraft was missing the left nose wheels. The pilots contacted the awp roc and the gjt tower and notified each of the incident. The nose wheel was located on rwy 11 at gjt by airport operatioins. Inspection of the aircraft revealed that the nose wheel washer, nut and cotter key were still attached to the nose landing gear axle. The bearing race was also still on the axle, but all of the bearings and cover were missing. The main landing gear and nose wheel was sent to Cessna citation in wichita, KS for inspection and evaluation. The results of the evalutation are pending.
