From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 2/26/2010, aircraft N2612P, a light sport experimental model Dakota Hawk, operated by privacy data omitted, lost power and abruptly landed on runway 26, causing the right landing gear to collapse. There was no injury to the pilot and the aircraft sustained no damage to the airframe and prop. On 3/4/2010, a written narrative issued by privacy data omitted revealed the following: a preflight inspection was conducted sucessfully and the aircraft was full of fuel and oil. A run-up was conducted with a successful check of both manetos and a check of full throttle authority. During the takeoff phase of the flight, at around 100 ft. AGL, the aircraft lost engine power. During landing, the pilot felt no support from the right main landing gear, causing him to input full left aileron to keep the weight off the right side of the aircraft to prevent futher damage. The aircraft skidded to a stop on the right side of runway 26 and the grass. On 3/9/2010, privacy data omitted, inspected the engine and found the throttle on the carburetor adjusted all the way out causing the butterfly in the carburetor to rotate pass full throttle. This incident occurred at the ferndina Beach municipal airport, frenandina Beach, Florida. This incident occurred on 02/26/2010 and notification about the same was not received until 03/02/2010.
