From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

PIC stated he was returning from the first flight after an annual inspection, landing rwy 23. Approach speed was between 75 and 85 knots with a right hand crosswind of approximately 15 knots and on glide slope per VASI. Aircraft touched down short of rwy 23 markings in the threshold stripes, approximately 300 feet short of intended touchdown point, shearing the right hand landing gear leg approximately 8 inches above the axle attachment. Evidence of first touchdown included three tire marks, impact of belly scoop, prop strikes, and asphalt damage from broken gear leg. The aircraft ballooned, touch downed approximately 400 feet down the runway with the left hand wing tip making contact with the runway. The aircraft veered to the left side of runway before veering right and exiting the north side of the runway and coming to rest in a drainage area approximately 1300 feet from the first touchdown point.
