From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The flight instructor, Mr. Ronald dillard, simulated an engine failure on downwind to runway 25R at Creve Coeur Airport (1H0). Ms. Cary fletcher was the pilot on the controls. Ms. Fletcher iniated a turn to the right (base) and then a turn to final for runway 25R. The strong crosswind component drifted the aircraft across runway 25 r to align with runway 25L. Mr. Dillard announced power recovery. Ms. Fletcher failed to respond. Mr. Dillard took control of the aircraft and added fullpower. The aircfat was too low to complete the successful power recovery and subsequently impacted the ground on the right landing gear. The aircraft continued about 30 yards, spun approximately 180 degress from the original heading and came to rest on the left side of runway 25L. The nearby METAR reports for ksus and kstl at the approximate time of the accident were as follows: ksus 081654Z 30012G16KT 10SM SCT050 13/02 A2991 rmk AO2 SLP129 TO1330022. Kstl 081651Z 32016G19KT 10SM SCT030 13/02 A2992 AO2 slp 132 TO1330022. Note: 1H0 does not have weather reporting capability.
