From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot in command (PIC) of N6928G untied aircraft after preflight then primed the aircraft, set the throttle at 1/4", set the brake and went to handprop the aircraft. The aircraft started the PIC got into the aircraft and the engine died. The PIC is tall and believes he disengaged the brakes when he got in the aircraft before the engine died. He did not check the brakes before he went to handprop the aircraft for the second time. Upon starting the aircraft the second time the PIC went to get in the aircraft and it started moving. The PIC could not catch the aircraft and it ran into a hangar causing substantial damage. A mechanic on the scene at the time of the accident confirmed the damage.
