From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The instructor pilot stated that he was on a training flight with two students on board and were cleared by the tower to come in over I-15 at 6500 feet until abeam parking and then were cleared into the ramp for landing. The pilot decided to then initiate an autorotation to lose altitude quickly. When attempting to roll the throttle to recover he realized that the engine had quit. He attempted an inflight restart which was unsuccessful. He stated he took the controls from his student, manuevered to land and performed a full down autorotation landing at a park near the north west side of the state fair grounds.
