From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

04/28/10 Special light sport wsc aircraft N98EV piloted by gerry charlebois while conducting a training flight experienced an engine power loss and executed a emergency landing to a unimproved dirt road. During the landing roll out the aircraft struck a sharp rise in the surface causing the aircraft to roll inverted impacting the ground and creating substantial damage to the aircraft frame, wing, landing gear and fuselage fairings. The accident was originally reported to the NTSB as a minor incident by omission of the extent of the damage. As a result of further FAA investigation it was determined the amount of damage was substantial. The aircraft had been removed from the scene prior to FAA notification. Inspection of the aircraft was conducted off site. Statements were gathered from the pilot, his mechanic, the passenger, the aircraft's manufacture and a witness pilot. On 04/29/10 two FAA inspectors from the hnl FSDO conducted a post accident investigation during this investigation the aircrafts mechanical and electrical fuel systems were tested and found to operate normally.
