From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After departing klpr VFR, FOX962 called cleveland approach to pickup an IFR clearance enroute. Originally, FOX962 filed IFR with fss. They were unable to find that clearance in the system while on the ground. FOX962 departed VFR instead. Pilot thought he could get a clearance airborne before entering cleveland class b airspace. The pilot was unfamiliar with the area. Although he did contact cleveland approach, he was told to remain clear of the class b airspace. By this time, FOX962 had entered the class b airspace.

As the FAA filed it
