From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 30 apr 2010 at approx 1100 EDT, student pilot daniel y. lackey, while conducting an authorized solo x-c flight, experienced a prop strike upon porpoising during landing touchdown at Ocala-jim taylor field (kocf), Ocala, FL. Student stated he had been holding manageable crosswind correction on final and was maintaining stabilized approach when at approximately 2 feet off the runway the aircraft abruptly settled onto the mains and began to porpoise and sideskip. Student recognized porpoising motion and corrected by initiating go-around: student pitched for climb and added power. Student states he did not realize prop strike had occurred, and that aircraft performance appeared normal on climbout. Student returned to base at sanford (ksfb) and made normal landing. Postflight inspection revealed approx 1/8 to 1/16" of each blade tip had been in contact with hard surface, showing very mild but classic prop strike tip abrasion. FAA "on-scene" at sanford base vice Ocala to inspect aircraft and conduct investigation.
