From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During pattern approach, the engine was pulled back to idle. On short final, the pilot attempted to increase engine RPM and found the throttle was then stuck at idle. The pilot landed short of the runway and taxied to the airport. The aircraft was not damaged. Inspection of the throttle assembly determined that there was no distortion or impairment to its operation. Inspection of the carburetor determined under certain conditions the accelerator pump would bind causing the throttle to be locked. It was decided that the carburetor may have caused the incident, and it was sent out for overhaul. The throttle cable was replaced.

As the FAA filed it
