From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot departed R13 at rdg with no apparent problems. After liftoff the pilot selected gearup and heard a loud pop noise. The towere informed the pilot that the nose gear was not fully retracted. The pilot saw a gear up indication on the panel. He then selected gear down and got a down indication. The tower informed him that the nose gear was still not in the locked position. He tried to cycle the gear again and the same thing happened. He landed the aircraft and on roll out the nose gear retracted, hitting the propeller and nose of the aircraft.
