What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
 Mr. Wilson holds an FAA commercial pilot certificate and has approximately 26 hours in this make and model aircraft and 1397 hours total time. Mr. Wilson holds a third class medical certificate that was issued on 07/09/2008.  Mr. Wilson indicated that he had logged 5 hours in the last 90 days.  at the time of the accident the weather was VMC, rwy 04 in use and winds 360-010 at 04 knots.  according to Mr. Wilson, while landing on runway 04 at Thomasville Regional at touch down a "pop or a snap" was heard and the aircraft slammed to the runway on the right side. Mr. Had enough rudder to get the aircraft off to the side of the runway and stopped there. This resulted in the aircraft settling down on the side and nose causing the propeller to strike the runway. The stated approach to touch down speed was approximately 65 knots.  the aircraft sustained damage to the right wing tip lower surface, the landing gear attach point on the fuselage, the wing support strut on the right side, the propeller and the gear as well. The oleo (pn 3-665) on the right side appears to have failed internally allowing the cylinder and spring to over extend out of it housing. As result of this over extension the strut was not able to function properly and failed trailing rearward and collapsing. , at the time of the accident the annual inspection was current and completed on may 04, 2010 at 1353 hours time in service.
