From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On July 11, 2010 the owner of the aircraft, and private pilot, departed from tradewind airport (tdw) to fly the aircraft for an operational check. He encountered no problems until he turned back to return to tradewind. He started his descent when the engine quit. The pilot attempted to restart the engine without sucess, and attempted an emergency landing on what he believed was a wide dirt road. The dirt road was the Riverfalls Airport which is in construction. The aircraft struck a large puddle, causing the landing gear to dig into the mud and flipping the aircraft onto its nose. The aircraft came to rest right side up. Damage was limited to the tailwheel, left wheel skirt, and propeller. There were no injuries.
