From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On August 11, 2010 at 7:26P.m (2326 zulu), eastern daylight time, Cirrus N160EU, reported losing oil from the engine onto the windshield and diverted to Cynthiana, KY (0I8). The aircraft incurred minor damage upon landing when it landed long and exited the runway. Upon removal of the top cowl, a large hole was discovered in the top left side of the engine housing. The connecting rod for the number 4 cylinder was found to have failed at the crankshaft. Pieces of the failed connecting rod that were found at the scene showed evidence of scoring and heat. Due to the hole in the engine housing, oil escaped and covered the windshield in flight, making it nearly impossible for the pilot to see for the emergency landing. The aircraft engine had received overhaul of all six (6) cylinders - including connecting rods and bearings at 600 hours total time.

As the FAA filed it

ON AUGUST 11, 2010 AT 7:26P.M (2326 ZULU), EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME, CIRRUS N160EU, REPORTED LOSING OIL FROM THE ENGINE ONTO THE WINDSHIELD AND DIVERTED TO CYNTHIANA, KY (0I8).
