From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Initiating departure roll on runway 36, the pilot broke the canopy latch in an attempt to completely close the canopy. He continued the rotation and climb-out to approximately 50 feet, then made a decision to descend immediately and executed an emergency landing on the remaining runway 36 straight ahead. The landing roll carried the aircraft off the end of the runway into tall grass and it flipped upside down, stopping aproximately 150 feet past the end of the runway.
