From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During approach to land on grass surface, between runway 23 and taxiway at Harnett Regional Jetport (hrj), pilot used excessive amount of spoiler to descend, overshot intended landing area, landed short and crashed when the glider's right wing struck the surface causing a collision with a taxiway sign and light. Post crash investigation revealed the glider suffered substantial damage because of hard impact with ground which set off ELT. Pilot said during interview he landed into a left crosswind. While pilot logbook reveals pilot accomplished a biannual flight review to stay current iaw regulation, he has not remained proficient because he has only flown 4 times in 2010 for total of 5 hours and 11 minutes with 4 landings.
