From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 8/18/10 while on final approach into den from okc the crew of acft N840HK, flight 8041, had a 'baggage smoke warning'. The pilot discharged the fire extinguishers. After landing, the aircraft was examined by den fire fighters and no evidence of fire was found. The acft then taxied to the terminal and de-planed. There were no injuries and no animals were in the cargo compartment. Maintenance found no evidence of fire either and deferred the baggage compartment smoke detection system per MEL 26-15-00-1 cat c dmi #57545 and the baggage compartment fire extinguisher system per MEL 26-23-00 cat c dmi #57848. The crew stated that they did not have sufficient time to declare an emergency as the cargo smoke indication and subsequent discharging of the fire extinguishers happened "on landing". The pilots have filed an asap report, asap event id #2677.

As the FAA filed it
