From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On August 21, 2010, at approximately 7:00 pm, a balloon descended into a residential area near Centralia, IL during a balloon fest. According to the pilot, the balloon came down on a roof of a house, sliding down and landing onto the deck. At this time a female passenger exited the basket and te pilot took back off and landed soon later in an open field. According to the pilot, soon after initial ascent both burners quit working and he began an uncontrolled descent. He said that he tried in vain to get them lit, finally trying the manual strikers on board. Just prior to this though, he had selected full flame, but with no pilot lights burning, he just pumped gaseous propane into the envelope. Once the manual strikers were used on the main burners, he selected full flame, and in doing so ignited the gaseous propane already in the envelope, blowing out a couple of panels in the envelope. At this point the pilot claims that he once again lost power and landed the balloon in the backyard of a residential home causing minor damage. The pilot indicated that he took back off to keep the balloon clear of power lines that were near to him. The only damage to the house was to a tv antenna. The controlled descent and landing following this incident was uneventful. The female passenger who exited the balloon after landing was sent to the hospital but released a short time later. The pilot indicated that after landing, both burners started working again and he repositioned the balloon to a safe area and an uneventfull landing was made.I was contacted at 10:45 pm by privacy data omitted, of the Kansas city roc, who was filling in for the great lakes roc. The balloon was sent to Cameron balloons in ann arbor, mi and received on 08/31/2010. The basket, burners, and fuel system were taken to lind strand balloons in galena, IL on 08/30/2010. Both the envelope and the burner assemblies had 8020-2 tags affixed to them by the Kansas city FSDO.

AT THIS TIME A FEMALE PASSENGER EXITED THE BASKET AND TE PILOT TOOK BACK OFF AND LANDED SOON LATER IN AN OPEN FIELD.ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, SOON AFTER INITIAL ASCENT BOTH BURNERS QUIT WORKING AND HE BEGAN AN UNCONTROLLED DESCENT.
