From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot and crew had just departed research medical center, Kansas City, Missouri, to return to their blue springs, Missouri, base of operations. After entering cruise flight at 2,100' MSL (approx. 1,000' AGL), the aircraft struck a wood duck on the pilot's windscreen causing the windscreen to break. The pilot was leaning to his left, adjusting radios, and was not hit by the duck. Pilot made a precautionary landing in a field in lee's summit to assess damage.
